Daniel Radcliffe youngest person on UK rich list

It has been revealed Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has doubled his fortune over the last year.

Radcliffe’s bank balance has increased dramatically from £6million to £14million and he has made it onto the Sunday Times rich list for the first time.

Other young actors to do well over the last year include Keira Knightley who is worth £10million and Kate Winslet, who at 30 years old, is worth £12million.

Philip Beresford who compiles the rich list said of this year’s earners: “The young rich-listers are getting a lot richer.

“And of course it’s all led by Daniel Radcliffe. At 16 he is the youngest person I have ever had in any rich list.”

Harry Potter is just a money spinner it seems, as author JK Rowling topped the list of film and TV millionaires with her whopping £520million fortune…not bad.

Rupert attends Emma’s birthday party

EMMA WATSON, better known as Hermione in the Harry Potter films, treated pals to a magical party for her 16th birthday.

She invited more than 150 mates, co-star RUPERT GRINT among them, to Hertford College, part of Oxford University, where she laid on live bands and DJs. The millionaire schoolgirl danced barefoot, snogged her boyfriend and swigged beer.

Emma insisted her skint mates pay for their drinks — to try to stop them getting too drunk.

And she encouraged them to stay sober by providing fruit juice cocktails including Hermione Hangovers and Wicked Watsons.

Guests gathered in the college’s 15th Century courtyard to sing Happy Birthday. Most left the bash about 1am on Friday.

Emma did show a wild side — knocking back Steinlager beer. An onlooker said: “She kicked off her shoes when The Prodigy came on and was all over her boyfriend at the end of the night.”

If that’s what she’s like on her 16th, I can’t wait to see what happens in two years . . .

Warner Bros. charges Bajaj with copyright violation

Warner Brothers has charged Bajaj Auto Ltd., a motor company located in India, with copyright violations. Jadoo, an Indian television show, has been running ads with a character that bears striking resemblance to our favorite boy wizard. A spokesman for Bajaj had the following to say:

The West feels that anyone in a red bikini is Baywatch and any flying boy is Harry Potter. Our concept of Jadoo is unique and we don’t believe it’s copied from Harry Potter….We feel the claim is exaggerated.

New OOTP filming information

Lizo of  CBBC Newsround recently visited the set of the fifth Harry Potter movie and interviewed the stars. The report was aired just minutes ago on CBBC, but we’re not sure if a video will be posted online. In the mean time, our fast-typing readers have given us a summary of what was said:

  • According to Dan, “I was meant to film the kiss last week, but I had gastric flu, so Katie, umm, well she may have escaped this time… but I’ll catch her one day!” Katie said she was both excited and nervous about the kiss. Emma said she would be s***ing in the background. The filming of that particular scene has been postponed for a few weeks.
  • Recently, they’ve been filming the scenes involving the Room of Requirement and quite a lot in the Forbidden Forest, including the part where the centaurs rampage after Umbridge.
  • David Heyman said the sixth film would be out late 2008. He also mentioned that a trailer should be revealed by the end of this year.

Gary Oldman to return in OOTP

Gary Oldman’s long-time manager Doug Urbanski sealed the deal this morning with Harry Potter producer David Heyman: the actor will reprise the role of Sirius Black in the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix movie.

“I’m so relieved and happy,” said Urbanski. “I can’t put my mind in the place of the producers, but I would’ve thought that when they read the book, a call to us would’ve been very high on their list. Obviously, the character of Sirius Black is key.”

Oldman’s manager mentioned Oldman had been offered several different film roles in the time it took Warner Bros. to make a decision on the part of Harry’s godfather.

Both Gary and manager are delighted with the highly anticipated outcome: “It’s a wonderful role. Gary read the script last night, and he read part of it to me on the phone this morning. The end of the story is: Gary’s in it. It’s a terrific script, and he’s so happy to be back.”
