Michael Gambon takes role he was born to play

Sir Michael Gambon is making his long-awaited theatrical debut as Sir John Falstaff, Shakespeare’s most glorious clown and wit, at the National Theatre in London. Gambon is best known for his appearances in Gosford Park and as Dumbledore in the recent Harry Potter films.

Goblet of Fire trailer available via satellite on Sunday

Warner Bros. Pictures announced today in a press release that the first trailer for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire will be available to the media via Satellite on the morning of Sunday, May 8. It should be available on the net shortly thereafter.

No Weird Sisters at classical Harry Potter music camp

The Rivendell Music Academy in Ohio will hold a “Harry Potter Chamber of Music” camp for strings and piano this summer. Students will spend the week rehearsing, climaxing with a concert on Friday performed in costume.

Half-Blood Prince editors work in the ‘Chamber of Secrets’

Dianne Hess, executive editor of Scholastic Press, says everything about Half-Blood Prince is hush-hush, but did say the office where the work is being done has been nicknamed the Chamber of Secrets, after Rowling’s second book.

IMAX shares jump 10% after Potter announcement

Imax Corp. shares jumped more than 10 percent on Monday after it said its giant-screen theaters will carry the next Harry Potter film and its CEO said it would “make sense” to one day tie in with a Hollywood studio.

Goblet of Fire to be released in IMAX

IMAX and Warner Bros. announced today that Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire will be simultaneously released to both IMAX and conventional theatres on November 18, 2005. Previously, Prisoner of Azkaban was IMAX’s highest grossing IMAX release.

Fiona Shaw set for new Broadway musical

Fiona Shaw, last on Broadway in Medea, and also Petunia Dursley in the Harry Potter movies, is set to be part of the 2005 Lincoln Center Festival production My Life As a Fairy Tale.

Real-life Harry Potter faces cancer

Legendary Australian TV reporter Harry Potter has been diagnosed with cancer, forcing him to take leave from the Australian Ten network. It’s serious, but the reporter says he has a good chance of pulling through.

Plaintiff “Wendell ‘Wendy’ Bobbles” broke down in tears as he testified Friday in Monroe County Court how defendant “Sal Malfoy” taunted him for being a lesser wizard during their days as students at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
